Israeli occupation threatens to demolish thousands of homes in Silwan, Jerusalem

Occupied Jerusalem (ST): In a flagrant violation of the resolutions of international legitimacy, the Israeli occupation threatens to demolish thousands of homes in the town of Silwan in the occupied city of Jerusalem, while its residents face its crimes and plans by steadfastness on their land, stressing that they will not leave and will not be defeated.

According to Wafa Agency, the Silwan Lands Defense Committee warned in a press conference today against the escalating targeting of the town’s neighborhoods to implement the plans of the occupation authorities in it due to the importance and privacy of its location near the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, where it threatens to demolish 5600 homes.

A spokesman for the people of Silwan, Fakhri Abu Diyab, explained that during the current year, the occupation forces demolished 69 homes in the town and displaced 342 Jerusalemites, 66 percent of whom are children and minors, noting that the demolition warnings in Silwan have reached 7,800 since the occupation of Jerusalem in 1967.

In turn, the advisor in the Palestinian Presidential Office, Ahmed Al-Ruwaidi, confirmed that the occupation’s settlement plans in Silwan town aim to forcibly displace Palestinians, attempt demographic change and falsify history, pointing out that thousands of homes in the town are threatened with demolition, including entire neighborhoods, as is the case in Al-Bustan neighborhood, Wadi Osoul and Ain Al-Lawzeh.
