Iraq condemns statements insulting religious authority in Israeli media

Baghdad, (ST) – The Iraqi Presidency condemned expressions of insult to the religious authority in Iraq by Israeli occupation media. It called on the international community to take effective action.

The Presidency said in a statement today: “We condemn in the strongest terms the insult that has affected the supreme authority in Iraq and the world by the media of the occupying entity. “It pointed out that the Iraqi Presidency rejects such insults and stresses the necessity of respecting the sanctities of all religions.

The statement added: This blatant aggression will lead to expanding the circle of danger and will expose the region to more violence.

It called on the international community to take effective action and express urgent positions in rejecting any calls for hatred among peoples.

The Presidency stressed Iraq’s endeavor to enhance efforts to stop the Israeli aggression on Lebanon and Gaza Strip. It stressed Iraq’s firm and principled position on the just Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on all their national soil.
