Iranians residing in Syria have been heading since eight o’clock this morning to the polling stations approved by the Iranian Embassy in several provinces to participate in the Fourteenth Iranian presidential election.
After casting his vote at the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, Iranian ambassador Hossein Akbari confirmed in a press statement that voting for the presidential elections is one of the indicators of democracy and the power of the people, and according to the Iranian constitution, citizens who participate in these elections enjoy full freedom to vote for their electoral candidate, reiterating the covenant and loyalty to the blood of the martyrs.
Ambassador Akbari pointed out that there are about 12 thousand residents of Iranian nationals in Syria. More than 6 thousand people are expected to vote, pointing out that the ballot boxes were distributed to cover the entire Syrian geography and according to the intensity of the presence of Iranians in it. 8 boxes were created within Damascus in different areas and in Latakia, Aleppo and Deir ez-Zor, in addition to a mobile box for special circumstances.
A number of polling participants indicated that their participation stems from their love for their homeland and their determination to participate in building the future of Iran, stressing that participation is a national duty and a legitimate right to choose their president who will represent them.
