International Party Forum for the BRICS countries opens with Syria’s participation

Moscow (ST) – Today, in the city of Vladivostok in the Russian Far East, the work of the International Party Forum for the BRICS and partner countries was launched with the participation of 150 representatives of parties from 32 countries, including the Arab Socialist Baath Party in Syria.

The forum is being held within the framework of the activities of Russia’s presidency of the BRICS group this year, and representatives of major political parties participate in it, calling for constructive cooperation to serve the common interests of their countries.

The forum is organized by the ruling United Russia Party under the slogan (The Global Family for a Multipolar World), in which the principles of justice, equality and cooperation between the countries of the South and East prevail.

Forum participants look forward to formulating practical steps to increase the role of the global majority in mechanisms for managing participatory cooperation in the areas of politics, security, finance, economics, as well as cultural and humanitarian relations.

In a speech before the forum, Chairman of the United Russia Party and Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, affirmed that the role of the BRICS is growing in light of the ongoing processes and developments in the world, noting that strengthening technological sovereignty has become particularly important.

Medvedev stressed the need to constantly defend the basic principles of international law stipulated in the United Nations Charter and resist any attempts to misinterpret them, including imposing an amorphous global order and calling it a rules-based global order, which is only beneficial to Western countries.

Medvedev had previously announced that during the forum, a permanent committee for the anti-neocolonial movement would be formed under the slogan (For the Freedom of Nations).

He stressed that these activities are a continuation of the traditions of political and social cooperation aimed at building a just, multipolar world through truly democratic management mechanisms.

Medvedev indicated that the era of colonialism has passed and will never return, as the majority of countries express their desire to live in a global family free of violence and the legacy of the colonial past and based on the foundations of sovereign equality and mutual respect between countries.
