International community’s failure to hold Israel accountable for its crimes erodes UN credibility

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has reaffirmed that the silence of the international community over the crimes of the Israeli occupation in occupied Palestine erodes what remains of the UN credibility, reiterating that failing to hold the occupation accountable and refraining from implementing international legitimacy resolutions will turn the UN into a helpless global forum.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry said that when UN officials confine their condemnation to statements and expressions of concern only this deepens the international double standard policy, undermines the principles of the world system and marginalizes the humanitarian content of the international law.

The ministry also condemned the Israeli settlers’ daily raids into Al-Quds old city and into Al-Aqsa Mosque, pointing out that Isarel’s violations against the Christian and Islamic sanctities are an integral part of the occupation’s open war on Al-Quds and its identity, civilization and historical situation and on the Palestinian presence in this area with the aim of imposing a fait accompli that serves the occupation’s Judaization and colonialist schemes.
