In honor of their souls and sacrifices: Inauguration of a tribute exhibition to the martyrs of the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums

Damascus (ST): In honor of the lives and sacrifices of approximately 27 martyrs who rose during the terrorist war on Syria in defense of the Syrian cultural heritage, an exhibition of recovered archaeological treasures, entitled (Greetings to the martyrs of the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums), was opened at the National Museum in Damascus.

The exhibition included displaying a group of recovered artifacts belonging to several historical periods, ranging from the ancient East to the classics, emphasizing the authenticity and antiquity of the Syrian heritage and the importance of preserving it, as it is part of the history of the Syrian people and the history of all humanity.

In a statement to reporters, the Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubana Mushawah, said: The recovered artifacts that terrorists and antiquities thieves tried to steal and take out of Syria were recovered with the help of the security forces and the Syrian Arab Army and handed over to the archaeological authorities, indicating that there are thousands of artifacts that have been recovered, some of them are destroyed, and some need restoration.

She explained that the exhibition embodies a greeting of respect and love for antiquities workers, the first of whom are the martyrs who rose while at the head of their work, protecting antiquities and museums and working hard in the most difficult circumstances, and secondly, a message of love and respect for all those who helped to retrieve antiquities, especially members of the security forces and the Syrian Arab Army.
