In appreciation of the sacrifices of their fathers and sons in defending the homeland, the Directorate of Martyrs, Wounded and Missing Persons Affairs at the General Command of the Army and Armed Forces, in cooperation with the Youth of Love and Peace Gathering, organized an artistic celebration titled “National Epic”, during which it honored a number of martyrs’ families on the stage of Al Hamra Theater.
The program of the celebration included artistic and musical performances by Yabroud musical group, in which they performed patriotic songs in addition to theatrical “sketches” that tackled national issues.
In his speech, the Head of the Directorate of Martyrs, Wounded and Missing Affairs, Major General Bassam Berri, said: Honoring the families of the martyrs is the highest mark of respect because our righteous martyrs are the ones who instilled lofty values and protected the homeland with their pure blood to become a story of glory and pride for a people who sacrificed themselves for the sake of victory. He stressed the keenness of armed forces to devote the values of heroism and martyrdom.
In turn, the Governor of Damascus Countryside, Engineer Moataz Abu Al-Nasr Jamran, pointed out in his speech that this honor is part of similar activities sponsored by the governorate where every municipality in it has a special office to follow up the issues and matters of the martyrs’ families who will always remain under the patronage of state institutions.
