The International Childhood Cancer Day ( ICCD) on the 15th of February is a collaborative campaign to raise awareness about childhood cancer and to express support for children and adolescents with cancer , the survivors and their families.

Marking this occasion a carnival walk  entitled “Help us to resist the disease” was  organized in Lattakia  by  “Farah”  Association to support children with cancer in cooperation with the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor in the governorate with the participation of about  30 groups representing various popular activities and NGOs in the province.

Head of “ Farah “ association  Samer Al-Masry, said in a statement to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA)  that the main objective of the carnival walk  is to highlight this disease and the importance of providing psychological  support to the affected children and their families.

He pointed out that this event aims to  convey a message to  the world  about the need to lift the unjust sanctions on Syria which  have  negative  impacts on patients’ lives.

Mrs. Arwa Kahilah  participated in the carnival walk with   her two-and-a-half-year-old son, who is now in recovery, stressing that this event is a good initiative to raise the morale of the children with cancer and strengthen them  that they are not alone in their confronting this disease.

For his part, Mrs. Georgy Ajeeb, the mother of the child, Ali Makna, welcomed the activities and their  positive role in drawing a smile on the faces of the tired children, providing them with strength and  the opportunity to integrate with others in a fun interactive environment away from the atmosphere of hospitals.

Other children  expressed their happiness with the participation in this event including a number of adults, youth and children, as an expression of their solidarity and support for children with cancer in difficult times until they overcome the disease.
