Head of Physical Strength Union: Syrian team eyes bigger achievements after major gains at the Arab Cup Championships in Beirut

Damascus (ST) – The Syrian team for physical strength proved its strong presence at the Arab level after its male and female players won various medals at the Arab Cup Powerlifting Championships, which was held recently in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, to register its name strongly in the list of Arab competitors.

The Syrian team won 156 various medals for physical strength after four days of competitions during the Arab Cup Championship. It won 59 medals on the first day, 44 medals on the second , 25 medals on the third , and 28 medals on the fourth day. The team took the lead in the junior, masters, and masters 2 categories in the general ranking, and came second in the men’s, women’s, young women’s, and masters 3 categories, and the third in the junior, youth, and masters 1 categories.

The Head of the Physical Strength Union Bilal Bahsas stated that these remarkable results of the team in the Arab tournament have motivated them to think about other achievements to be added to the Syrian sports gains.

He indicated that the next sport event waiting the team is the Asian Championship for Universities, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates next month.

Bahsas noted that the Arab tournament was a valuable opportunity to communicate with the Arab and international supervisors of this event to discuss issues relating to eveloping Syrian physical strength sport ghrough intensifying the participation of the players in international tournaments.
