Guterres Condemns Israeli Aggression on West Bank, Calls for Immediate Cessation Of Aggression

New York– (ST)- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the Israeli aggression on West Bank, calling on the occupying entity to comply with its relevant obligations under international humanitarian law, and take the necessary measures to protect civilians and ensure their safety.
In a statement reported by Wafa News Agency, Guterres expressed his “deep concern over the recent developments in the West Bank, and his strong condemnation of the loss of life, including children,” adding: “These dangerous developments have fueled the already explosive situation in West Bank.”
Guterres pointed out that ending the occupation and returning to a political process are what will put an end to the violence, saying “the United Nations will continue to work to achieve this goal with all parties to calm the current situation and ensure stability in the region.
Guterres called on Israel to immediately cease fire, expressing his deep concern over the dangerous and provocative actions and statements made recently by the Minister in the occupation government, Yisrael Katz, in which he threatened to carry out evacuations of Palestinians from the cities of Jenin and Tulkarm, as happened in  Gaza Strip.
Since yesterday, the Israeli occupation forces have been launching a large-scale aggression on the cities of Tulkarm, Jenin and Tubas in the northern West Bank, which resulted in the martyrdom of 17 Palestinians and widespread destruction of infrastructure and property.
