Greece announces first suspected monkeypox infection

Athena (ST) The Public Health Authority in Greece announced that it had detected the first possible infection with monkeypox virus in the country in a British tourist.

France-Press Agency quoted the Greek authority as saying that the English tourist and his partner were taken to the hospital and placed in an isolated room, while lab tests will show on Monday whether it was related to monkeypox.

Switzerland announced the registration of the first infection on Saturday. Many other countries, including France, Germany, Britain, the United States, Spain, and Sweden, announced that they had record infections in the last weeks.
