General Union of Arab Writers holds emergency meeting on intensifying efforts to stop the aggression against the Palestinian people
With the participation of the Arab Writers Union in Syria, the General Union of Arab Writers held an emergency meeting in Cairo, headed by the Secretary-General of the Union Dr. Alaa Abdel Hadi and the heads of the unions in Syria, Algeria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Libya, Palestine, and Egypt, as part of the efforts being exerted to stop the war of genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza in particular and Palestine in general.
Heads of the writers’ unions participating in the meeting confirmed in a statement that the war on the Palestinian people aims to undermine the will to live by targeting children, women, schools, writers, journalists, and medical teams by the Zionist entity.
Within the framework of coordinating the positions and efforts of Arab and international institutions and organizations, the participants in the meeting met with Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States for Cultural Affairs. The meeting centered on the need to intensify official Arab efforts to stop the aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza and work to prosecute Zionist criminals.
The participants underlined the need to send a message , through the League of Arab States, from Arab writers to the emergency Arab summit dedicated to the war on Gaza. They also stressed the need to send a message to international human rights, humanitarian and political organizations to put pressure on the usurping entity to stop the terrorist war on the Palestinian people.
During the meeting, Dr. Muhammad Al-Hourani, head of the Arab Writers Union in Syria, said: We are facing a historic moment in which we must all side with Palestine and the resistance act, and the official Arab positions regarding the massacres in Gaza must be decisive positions in terms of calling for an end to the aggression and the bloodshed and the war of extermination and allowing the entry of humanitarian aid.
The participating delegations announced that the General Union of Arab Writers would remain in permanent session until the Zionist aggression stops, and that a set of measures would be taken that would put pressure on Western countries and the Zionist entity to stop the war. They agreed to hold a conference of Arab federations, unions, and organizations to put pressure in this regard, and emphasized the establishment of offices to combat normalization with the Zionist enemy in Arab unions, associations, and writers’ unions.
