Franjieh: supporting Lebanese army against terrorism

BEIRUT, (ST) _ Head of the Lebanese Marada Movement and Lebanese MP Suleiman Franjieh, has stressed the need to support the Lebanese army and providing it with necessary weapons against terrorist organizations.

“We are with providing all support for the Lebanese army,” Franjieh emphasized in an interview with the Lebanese al-Jadid TV channel last night, pointing out that terrorist organizations threaten Lebanon “starting as from Arsal and South of Lebanon “, and expressed fear of “sleeping” terrorist cells that spread panic and fear among the Lebanese people.

Head of the Marada movement warned that Lebanon still faces threats and dangers implied by “Daesh” and “al-Nusra Front” terrorists, noting that “No one should be optimistic that things have ended.”

Franjieh also warned against the scheme prepared for the region, explaining that “one who has reason must realize that we are in front of a new Sykes-Picot, while there is talk about the fate of minorities and regions. We are in an exceptional and historic stage.”

On the election of a new Lebanese President, Franjieh reiterated the need to elect a “strong president, to be agreed by all the Lebanese,” adding that a strong president is the one who has legitimacy.

He renewed support for the nomination of the President of the Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun to the Lebanese presidency, pointing out that Hizbullah party, “also declared more than once support for Aoun’s candidacy for the presidency.
