H.E President Bashar al-Assad laid on Thursday the foundation stone of Project 66 to regulate al-Razi housing area, located near Mezzeh highway in Damascus city.
Afterwards, the President visited the building of the Regulation Directorate, where he watched a video illustrating the area to be regulated, the stages of implementation, the number of beneficiaries and the temporary and permanent job opportunities the projects provides, SANA reported.
President al-Assad toured a number of offices at the Directorate and was briefed by the employees on the work mechanism and services provided by the department to the people targeted in the project.
He placed importance on sticking to time frames and technical quality during implementation so that to set the project as a model to follow for other projects to come within the reconstruction process.
President al-Assad also talked to a number of citizens benefiting from the project and listened to complaints they might have about the course and speed of implementation.
The targeted area covers 2.149 million square meters. It includes 12,000 housing units that can accommodate approximately 60,000 people.
The project provides 110,000 employment opportunities and 27.000 permanent jobs.
The area will include parks, water areas and commercial, investment and administrative buildings, including two health centers, a firefighting center, 17 schools, a kindergarten, five places of worship and a multi-story car park.
