For the first time in Damascus, a Cosmetic Clinic at the University Hospital

The University Hospital of Dermatology and Venereology in Damascus put the first cosmetic clinic in service to provide treatment and educational services. The Hospital further opened the surgery division after providing it with modern equipment and techniques.

The new surgery division includes three operating rooms for dermatology, including excisional moles, tissue biopsies, appendages and first aid, while the plastic clinic offers various cosmetic and reconstructive treatments.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, stressed the importance of this step and its role in improving the health services that are provided to the patients.

The opening of the surgery department helps in performing minor surgeries related to cancerous skin diseases, which are later transferred to treatment in Al-Biruni Hospital.  The department is equipped with new devices and equipment that meet the conditions of safety and security for patients as the hospital is moving in the coming period towards micro-surgery for skin tumors (MOS), which contributes to supporting doctors’ expertise in this field.

The University Hospital provides patients with free services, including diagnosis, treatment and surgery, as well as pathological autopsy services, diagnosis of fungi and leishmaniasis.

According to the hospital’s statistics for the year 2021, the number of patients, treated in the hospital clinics, exceeded 70,000, and surgical operations were performed at the rate of  4,331 surgeries.
