With the participation of the most famous Damascene restaurants , amateurs and specialists in the art of cooking local and western dishes as well as in making oriental and western desserts , the “Food Street” Carnival for the fourth time is being held at Damascus fairgrounds.
The economic event , includes entertainment activities for all ages with singing and music .It aims at encouraging and highlighting new restaurants and cuisines.
Syriatimes e-newspaper visited the carnival to shed light on this event’s activities and met a number of visitors and participants.
The carnival is organized by “Bee Order” for restaurant and delivery services, and “Socialha,” marketing Agency, in cooperation with Syriatel and Al Baraka Bank.
The event this year is distinguished by being the first cashless food street in Syria, as more than 60 restaurants participating in the carnival from the largest brands in Damascus rely on electronic payment and electronic transactions.
This initiative is in line with government’s ongoing efforts to enhance electronic payment and digital transactions, which is a strategy that has proven successful in enhancing economic efficiency and empowering youth and entrepreneurs.
The event, which is due to last till the tenth of next month, stresses that the organizing company’s commitment to supporting youth and promoting entrepreneurship is a fundamental pillar of this event, in addition to supporting the local economy by securing many job opportunities in various aspects.
The idea of the carnival is based on bringing together the various restaurants in Damascus through kiosks in one place so that visitors and food lovers can get to know all of these restaurants in one visit and taste the most delicious meals, juices and sweets they offer.
Syriatimes met Fahd Aboud from “King of the Wings” for fast food resturant who expressed his happiness at his participation in the carnival.
He said that the restaurant’s participation comes within the framework of providing meals and sandwiches of fried chicken and wings with a variety of Western sauces, which were welcomed by visitors with their distinct taste.
Participant Aboud welcomed and encouraged the holding of such events to exchange new expertise and ideas in the world of cooking and preparing fast food.
“This carnival is the greatest evidence of the recovery of the economic sector in our country. The Syrian people, especially the younger generation, are capable of doing anything to develop and rebuild thier beloved country” Aboud expressed.
From Lattakia province , “Jaara for Oriental Sweets” shop agent said that it is the shop’s first participation in the carnival, which is considered an important opportunity to present the sweets that Latakia is famous for, especially maamoul and kunafa with cheese.
Participant Hayyan Azzam from B.Laban brand for making dessert stressed to Syriatimes newspaper that the Food Street Carnival forms a platform for presenting new brands in the field of Arab and Western dishes and sweets which B.Laban is one of them.
He indicated that B.Laban’s new brand ,(most of its products are made of milk)is a Syrian brand distinguished by offering several types of traditional Syrian sweets with Western flavours.
Azzam expressed happiness with this participation, as the carnival is witnessing a large turnout from various age groups, in addition to tourist groups from several provinces and Arab countries, that expressed their admiration for traditional Syrian sweets with Western flavors.
Regarding the children activities in this carnival , Muhammad Al-Kour, owner of “Massa Doll ” Company told the newspaper ” This is the first participation of our company in this event and it will not be the last when we saw the smiles on the faces of the children”.
He added ” Our participation came through several interactive activities and games for the children, who were very excited and happy to participate in these activities “.
Al- Kour pointed out that the children are able to carry out several activities on their own, which include drawing, coloring ,make up, and styling hair for children, in addition to a special kitchen for children to make some sweets themselves.
Syriatimes met some visitors to the carnival who welcomed holding such food activities , which provided an opportunity for all family members to spend an enjoyable time with their children, who carried out various activities appropriate for their ages.
The event also allowed them to taste the latest meals, dishes and traditional oriental sweets in multiple flavours.
