Homs (ST): Despite the serious injury he had suffered from after participating in the Syrian Arab Army’s battles against the terrorist groups in the country, within the framework of his duty in the reserve service , the wounded soldier Farhan Hamdan continued the path of knowledge, which he aspired to, to obtain a doctorate degree in the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering at Al-Baath University in Homs.
Hamdan said in a statement to SANA news reporter: “I was shot in the head during my compulsory service, which hindered my study and delayed my obtaining of a master’s degree, but my ambition was greater than my injury, and as soon as I surpassed the injury stage, I regained my strength and continued what I had started and obtained a master’s degree, and today I obtained a doctorate degree”.
Dr. Abd al-Basit al-Khatib, President of Al-Baath University, stressed in a speech during the ceremony the importance of scientific research and the necessity of stimulating it and linking it to the problems of society and finding innovative scientific solutions, pointing out that the university is proud of the homeland’s wounded whose injury did not prevent them from looking forward to a better future, especially in the light of the current circumstances which requires concerted efforts to build a coexistent society in which all citizens of the country participate in building it.
