Exhibition Industry Prospects in a Forum in Damascus

The exhibition industry in Syria and the prospects for its development is the title of today’s gathering of businessmen and representatives of several government agencies at the forum that was held at Al-Sham Hotel. The axes of debate centered on the importance of innovation in the exhibition industry, the role of logistical support, the supply chain, trademark registration procedures, and opportunities for promoting scientific research outputs and investing knowledge.

Director of the General Organization for International Exhibitions and Markets, Ghassan Fakiani drew attention to the importance of the exhibition industry and its role in the growth of economy and the revitalization of economic sectors as well as the revitalization of the economic, touristic and social sectors, in addition to the exhibition industry’s catalytic role for product development, education, knowledge exchange, new technologies, investment, professional development and job creation. Fakiani pointed out that the exhibitions revive the demand for national products and provide opportunities to meet producers, traders and importers, sign contracts and trade deals, and speed up the process of trade exchange.

Debates of the forum centered on the difficulties and challenges facing the exhibition industry, research for foreign markets, opportunities for marketing

while looking forward to a type of a knowledge-based economy.
