On the occasion of birthday of the Prophet Mohammad [Peace Be Upon Him], religious festivals were held by Endowments (Awqaf) Ministry in Damascus, Aleppo and Hama.
Thousands of Muslims flocked to mosques to attend the festivals that included Mawlid and hymns praising the Prophet, recital of verses from the Holy Quran and supplications to Allah.
Heads of Religious Endowments Directorates delivered speeches in which they talked about the noble human values that the Prophet Mohammad [PBUH] embodied and called for following the Prophet’s footsteps.
They asserted that Syria will remain an example of national unity and it will achieve victory over conspirators.
Several officials attended the festivals.

Michael Hart, Professor of astronomy, said: “My choice for Mohammad to lead the list of the world’s most influential persons may surprise some readers. But he was the only man in history, who was supremely successful on both the religion and secular levels.
The great Indian Leader Mahtama Ghandi said: ‘After I finished the second part of the Biography on Mohammad, I felt I needed more about his great personality. He uncontested, won the hearts of millions of people.
Thomas Carlyle, the English writer, said: “I like Mohammad for his, free nature with clear and sound words he addresses the Roman Tsars and Kings of Persia. He guides them to what he loves for them in this life and in the eternal life.”
George Wells, the English author, regards prophet Mohammad [PBUH] ‘ the greatest personality who established a state for justice and tolerance.
The famous Russian writer Leo Tolstoy believes that Mohammad’s religion will prevails over the whole world as it is in conformity with mind and wisdom.”
Jean Louis, the French orientalist, said: “Islam which ordered Jihad or Holy war, had much tolerance with followers of other religions. As per the teachings of Mohammad [PBUH], Omar bin al-Khattab did not inflict harm on Christians when he conquered Jerusalem.
The well-known French historian Oustav Lobon said: “Mohammad is the greatest man that history ever know.
Will Durant, author of the Story of Civilization, said: “If we rated greatness by influence of the great on people, we will say Mohammad is the greatest of the great in history.”
