Education Ministry, UNHCR discuss programs for rehabilitating schools, training teachers

Minister of Education Mohammad Amer Mardini and Head of the UNHCR mission in Damascus Gonzalo Gabriel Vargas Llosa on Monday discussed coordination on implementing a number of educational work programs, including  the rehabilitation of schools and training teachers.

Al-Mardini affirmed the Syrian government’s keenness on securing education for all students, pointing to the ministry’s efforts to develop the education process, achieve quality education, and encourage students to return to school. He stresses the importance of coordination to develop cooperation in various educational fields, especially in the field of vocational education and teacher training.

For his part, Llosa referred to the action plan that was previously worked on with the Ministry of Education, especially with regard to training and rehabilitation of a number of schools, and the implementation of psychosocial support courses.
