Christian denominations that follow the Western calendar celebrate Easter by holding masses and prayers
On April 9th, the Christian denominations in Syria, which follow the Western calendar, celebrated the glorious Easter, marking the resurrection of Christ who is the messenger of love and peace.

In the Patriarchal Cathedral of Our Lady of Nayah of the Melkite Greek Catholics in Al-Zaytoun Quarter in Damascus, a religious mass was held, presided over by Patriarch of Antioch and All the East of the Melkite Greek CatholicsYoussef Al-Absi, and assisted by the Patriarchal Vicar General, Bishop Nicholas Antiba and a number of venerable priests, and the cathedral choir served the mass.
During his speech at the Mass, Patriarch Al-Absi referred to the meanings of the glorious Easter, which are symbolized with a smile, joy, service and benevolence, and appear in justice, peace and forgiveness.
Patriarch Al-Absi pointed out that the earthquakes that struck our country and our region and are still threatening it, killing, displacing and afflicting thousands, caused the reason for the harmony of hearts between people of different groups, religions and countries that came from all sides to help.
Patriarch Al-Absi called on God to preserve Syria, its people, its leader Mr. President Bashar Al-Assad, and the Syrian army.
