New York (ST): Chilean President Gabriel Borek called on the United Nations to put an end to the continuing human rights violations against the Palestinian people by the Israeli occupation, stressing the need for it to abide by its decisions that judge the right of the Palestinian people to establish their free and independent state.
Borek was quoted by the Iranian news agency IRNA as saying in a speech to the United Nations General Assembly in New York: “The continuous violation of human rights against the Palestinian people should not be shown as a normal thing by not implementing the international laws and resolutions issued by the United Nations every year”.
These statements by the Chilean president come after his recent refusal to accept the credentials of an ambassador of the Israeli entity in the capital, Santiago, in protest of the repressive practices of this entity against the Palestinians in the occupied territories.
