The foreign ministers of BRICS countries expressed their support for granting Palestine full membership in the United Nations.
Russia today quoted the final statement issued by the ministers’ meeting in Nizhny Novgorod, stating that the foreign ministers support granting Palestine full membership in the United Nations.
The ministers stressed that the sovereign, independent and viable State of Palestine must be established within the internationally recognized 1967 borders, with Al Quds as its capital.
Last May, the United Nations General Assembly supported granting Palestine full membership in the United Nations with 143 votes in favor and 9 votes against.
The vote took place in the United Nations General Assembly after the United States used its veto power against a draft UN Security Council resolution regarding Palestine’s membership in the international body.
