Bern (ST): Switzerland rejected Germany’s request to allow it to supply Ukraine with ammunition that it received from it, expressing its commitment to neutrality in supplying Ukraine with arms.
The Swiss News Agency reported that the Federal Ministry of Economy rejected Germany’s request to send arms to Ukraine, noting that in addition to Switzerland’s neutrality and the mandatory criteria contained in Swiss law, the process of delivering such type of weapon is legally impossible, as arms exports to countries involved in internal or international conflicts are prohibited.
The ministry added that Switzerland requests, in principle, a declaration in which countries pledge not to export military equipment they receive from Switzerland without its prior consent, and this is a common measure among arms-exporting countries to maintain a certain level of control over sensitive materials.
