Belarusian president congratulates President Al-Assad for winning the presidential elections

Damascus (ST): President Bashar al-Assad received today a congratulation cable from President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus, in which he congratulated him on his victory in the presidential elections.

President Lukashenko’s cable stated: On behalf of the Belarusian people, and on my own behalf, I congratulate President Bashar al-Assad on his election as President of the Syrian Arab Republic, noting that the victory in the elections is evidence of the recognition of your indisputable patriotic role as a national leader who confidently defends his country against foreign interference and fights for peace and stability in Syria.

President Lukashenko added: Belarus was and will remain a friend of the Syrian people and will continue to support friendly Syria and attaches great importance to intensifying cooperation between Minsk and Damascus in the political, commercial, economic, humanitarian and cultural fields, pointing to the Republic of Belarus’s interest in participating in the reconstruction process in Syria.

At the end of his cable, President Lukashenko wished President al-Assad good health, strength, steadfastness and success in working for the good of Syria and its people.
