Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Iran to Geneva Ali Bahraini stressed that the Zionist entity does not have the necessary legitimacy to preside over any of the UN institutions, including the Conference on Disarmament.
“The non-membership of the Zionist entity in any of the international treaties banning the production and use of weapons of mass destruction and the continued production, development, threat and use of these weapons clearly proves that this entity lacks the minimum qualifications and standards necessary to lead international institutions, including the United Nations Conference on Disarmament,” Bahraini said in a detailed statement yesterday during the meeting of the United Nations Conference on Disarmament, explaining that the chairmanship of a United Nations organization requires adherence to the basic rules and principles of international law.
Bahraini said that ” since the seventh of October last year, this entity has been committing massacres, as more than 40 thousand people were killed in Gaza, and this deliberate targeting of civilians and civilian targets, including hospitals, schools and houses of worship are clear examples of war crimes,” stressing that starvation, forced displacement of the population and the use of prohibited weapons such as white phosphorus in Gaza are war crimes and crimes against humanity, and the authorities of this entity must be held accountable for those crimes.
