Bagheri Kani and Guterres Condemn Israeli Attacks on Iran and Lebanon

Iranian Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani stressed that his country will not give up its right to self-defense and take counter measures to punish criminal Zionists.

“The terrorist act carried out by the Zionist entity by assassinating the head of the Political Bureau of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, in addition to violating the territorial integrity of Iran and violating the national sovereignty of Iran, has risked regional and international peace and stability,” Bagheri Kani said in a telephone call with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres , calling on the international community to prevent this entity from continuing its crimes in Gaza Strip, saving the oppressed Palestinian people and preserving international peace and stability.

Bagheri Kani noted the extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council at the request of his country, condemning the United States and European countries for preventing the condemnation of Haniyeh’s assassination in Tehran. He pointed to the convening of an emergency meeting of the OIC foreign ministers based on Tehran’s proposal to condemn and confront the criminal acts of the Zionist entity.

For his part, the UN Secretary-General noted that he issued a statement condemning the two attacks by the Zionist entity in southern Beirut and in Tehran, pointing out that according to international law, Iran has the right to legitimate self-defense against violation of national security and territorial integrity, expressing concern about the potential, effects and consequences of a large-scale war in Lebanon.
