Artist Nael Al-Hajj uses nails and threads to reflect his artistic talent

The artist Nael Al-Hajj preferred to direct his artistic talent towards producing unique creative artworks, adopting threads and nails to combine the types of plastic art in order to reflect his emotion, conscience, and psychological situation.

The art of threads and nails depends on accuracy, as there is no room for error in it, and it is implemented using a group of nails and black threads only or with colored threads that suit the topic of the artwork.

Al-Hajj added: “The nails form the outer frame of the theme of the painting, and the threads connected between the nails block the lighting, which enables me to move artistically with shadow and light and obtain shades in order to complete the intended artwork, whether it is a personal portrait or a depiction of the beauty of Arabian horses, falcons, and others.”

This type of art differs from painting with a brush and colors, according to the artist Hajj, in that it requires more accuracy, a longer time, and different tools such as nails, colored threads, a wooden base of a certain thickness, and a hammer.

Al-Hajj continued: The art of threads and nails can take us on a journey to the near future or to the ancient past, and it can evoke strong feelings and deep creative ideas, so that the recipient will be dazzled by its complex creative visual brilliance. The reaction of each of us towards art may differ, but in the end, art has its effects on us all.

Al-Hajj explained that the production of pure manual artwork with strings and nails requires the talent of drawing combined with creative spatial thought and good training, because the talent of drawing accompanied him since childhood and he practiced it in many stages of his life. Al-Hajj indicated that this type of art has a strong link with drawing, as it is the basis for most types of arts.
Al-Hajj participated in various exhibitions, and was accredited in the United Arab Emirates in the category of creators with exceptional talents, and he obtained a golden residence in Abu Dhabi in appreciation of his contribution to enriching art.
