Ardzinba: There is a need to take effective measure to enhance the economic ties between Syria and Abkahzia
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia Inal Ardzinba has stressed his country’s keenness on strengthening cooperation with Syria in different fields, including economy, agriculture, sports and culture, and on enhancing bilateral dialogue on ways to confront the western attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of the two countries.
In a statement to RT, Ardzinba said “I am glad to be in Damascus on my first visit to Syria. We can see that international terrorism has been completely destroyed in Damascus and the streets are safe and protected. Damascus was encircled by terrorists several years before, but now, teh situation is completely different and we are happy for this’.
He explained that he held talks with President Bashar Al-Assad and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad during which several bilateral, regional and international issues were discussed.
Ardzinba said that “during the talks, President Al-Assad noted the importance of economy and trade as the basis of bilateral relations between countries, so, there is a need to take effective measure to enhance the economic ties between Syria and Abkahzia and first of all to reform our financial relations with the aim of having a financial base for the bilateral trade and then we will work to enhance the trade relations. We are working to operate an airport in the capital Sokhumi and hopefully it will be ready within a year or two to provide an opportunity for establishing and developing a new level of trade and economic relations.”
The minister clarified that at the global level, Syria and Abkhazia share the aspirations for a more stable, secure and just pluralistic world order, and therefore they fully support the Russian special military operation, because it is a step towards achieving the desired multipolarity.
On developments in Gaza Strip, Ardzinba said that what is happening in Gaza Strip today is a humanitarian catastrophe, reiterating his country’s condemnation of the Israeli aggression against civilians in the Strip and calling on the United Nations to provide security for the region and to overcome its failure in this issue.
