Annual meeting of Arab Women Mediators Network held in Cairo with the participation of Syria

The annual meeting of Arab Women Mediators Network was held at the headquarter of the League of Arab States in the Egyptian capital Cairo, with the participation of Syria. It is organized by the Social Affairs Sector “Women’s Department” at the Arab League in cooperation with the Regional Office of the United Nations in the Arab States.

The Syrian Arab Republic was represented at the meeting by Minister Plenipotentiary Wareef Al-Halabi.

Participants in the meeting discussed the organizational structure of the Arab Women Mediators Network, which was prepared by the Women’s Department of the General Secretariat with the aim of determining the structural and organizational issues of the network. That contributes to achieving the network’s goals more effectively to support and enable women to play their active role in peace-building processes and achieving stability in Arab countries.

The annual meeting of the network comes after the conclusion of the workshop on “Mediation and Protection of Refugee Rights” organized by the League of Arab States in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the UN regional office for Women in the Arab States on the 3rd and 4th of this June in Cairo.
