Israel’s brutal and intensified aggression against Gaza for more than eight months has prompted a group of human rights figures, intellectuals and peace advocates in the Arab world, including the president of the Arab Writers ‘ Union in Syria, Dr. Mohammed Al-Hourani, to send a letter to UN Secretary-General AntonioGuterres and UN General Assembly President Denis Francis, in which, they mentioned the details of ResolutionNo. 3379 adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on the tenth of November 1975, which considered Zionism a form of racism, the resolution was repealed in 1991 in contravention of the resolution.
The letter pointed out that” Israel ” continues to deny the UN resolutions, especially Resolution 181 of 1947 and Resolution No. 194 of 1948, which guarantees the right of return, in addition to a set of resolutions condemning its racist practices and denial of the rights of the Palestinian Arab people.
The letter stated the multiple humanitarian motives, stressing that more than two million Palestinians are being subjected today to an unprecedented human catastrophe and a brutal genocidal war, contrary to the rules of international humanitarian law.
It also pointed out that the world, including some Jews in America, Europe and many Western circles, especially students and youth, have begun to feel the danger of Zionism to the civilized world, which in turn was reflected in the recognition of the state of Palestine, where 143 countries recently voted in its favor recognizing its right to be a full member of the United Nations, expanding the scope of international recognition, as happened when Spain, Ireland and Norway recognized, as a reaction to racist Zionist practices.
They explained that they will work collectively and individually with organizations, forces, cultural groups, States and governments, and everyone who believes that Zionism is a new face of racism and they will seek to achieve more solidarity with the Palestinian Arab people so that they can determine their own destiny, and establish their own independent viable national state, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, the return of the refugees and compensation for the injustice, damage, destruction and devastation that they have suffered for more than three quarters of a century, and that is the great international responsibility of the United Nations and all influential powers.
