LONDON – Russian Ambassador to the UK Alexander Yakovenko has refuted allegations of Moscow’s interference into the 2016 Brexit referendum campaign and into US presidential elections.

In an interview with SkyNews broadcast on Monday, Yakovenko said that those allegations were “fake.”

Talking about Russia’s broader relationship with the UK, the ambassador said it was “thawing but there was some way to go.”

Yakovenko indicated that Russia would consider a trade deal with the UK after Britain leaves the European Union. “We are open for cooperation,” he said.
