“Al-Sebky Park’s Friends” Association Seeks to Increase Green Spaces and Raise Awareness about Environmental Issues

Aesthetic and environmental goals that are defined by the “ Al-Sebky  Park’s Friends ” association, which was established about a year ago,  aim  to expand the green area and disseminate awareness about  the importance of maintaining a clean and safe environment. 
 
Dr. Ghassan Karkotli, Chiarman of the association  clarified  to the Syrian News Agency ( SANA )  that the  association’s main objectives are  to increase the green spaces, double the number of trees and flowers, raise awareness  about   social responsibility towards gardens  and exchange experiences regarding this aspect. 
 
For his part, Aref Al-Abrash, Deputy Chairman of the association said that the association is a social and environmental one which is  concerned with the environment and volunteer work through  carrying out environmental initiatives, activities and events.   
 
In this context, member of the  Association Eng. Sawsan Sharaf declared: “Since its establishment,  the association has been characterized by  its  youth volunteers  and  clear goals that aim at  contributing to efforts being exerted to  achieve  positive change towards protecting the environment as well as carrying out constant and essential programs on environmental education.”
 
Hana Salibi, another member of the association, who is  tasked with organizing activities, stressed  the association’s keenness on  working  as a partner in  spreading and consolidating awareness on  environmental rights  which are no less important than any other human rights.
