NEW YORK- Countries financing and training terrorists should be compelled to implement the Security Council resolutions on fighting ISIL, al-Nousra Front and other terrorist organizations and to stop all forms of support for terrorism, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem told his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makei during a meeting yesterday on the sideline of the UN General Assembly meetings.
“Any anti-terrorism effort against ISIL, al-Nousra and other terrorist organizations is a good thing, but it should be consistent with international law,” al-Moallem said.
On is part, Makei affirmed Belarus’s constant and firm support for the Syrian government and its rejection of foreign intervention in the country’s internal affairs.
He pointed out that his country backs Syria’s vision on unconditional dialogue, stressing that only national dialogue can solve the crisis and restore security and stability to Syria.
During the meeting the two ministers talked about developments in the region, ways of boosting bilateral ties and some issues relating to the meetings of the joint committee to be convened late this year.
