Al-Mikdad: The world is witnessing resounding collapse of values due to silence over Israeli genocidal war against the Palestinian people
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad stressed that the world, today, is witnessing a resounding collapse of human values through the unprecedented international silence regarding the crimes of genocide committed by the Israeli occupation entity against the defenseless Palestinian people with American and Western support.
In a speech via video before the third summit of the Voice of the Global South, hosted by India in the presence of foreign ministers and senior officials from a number of countries around the world, Al-Mikdad said, “the Western countries that claim illusory democracy and respecting human rights are mobilizing their fleets and armies in support of this criminal entity to encourage it to commit more crimes and massacres in the occupied Syrian Golan and occupied Palestine, and to launch attacks against neighboring countries without accountability.”
Al-Mikdad said that Syria hopes that the countries of the South would be able to unite their stances, confront the challenges they face, play their vital role in global governance, and put an end to Western hegemony over international political, economic, and financial institutions and their unfair practices against the economic, social, and development interests of the countries of the South.
Al-Mikdad said, “We must work together to force these countries to stop imposing inhumane unilateral coercive measures that destroy the economies of our countries and undermine the ability of our national institutions to provide humanitarian and social services, including health, education, and social support for our peoples, and that hinder the achievement of sustainable development goals.”
The top Syrian diplomt went on to say that “these measures have become an economic terrorism and a weapon directed against peoples that affects all aspects of daily life, targeting the most basic requirements, including health supplies, vaccines, life-saving medicines, and the basic energy necessary for practicing any industrial, agricultural, or economic activity.”
He clarified that the impacts of the unilateral coercive measures are multiplied in the light of the hostile practices pursued by the United States and its allies against Syria, including the acts of aggression and looting of underground resources.
Al-Mikdad thanked India and the countries of the group of the global South that supported Syria in confronting terrorism that came from all over the world, in confronting the illegal foreign military presence on its territory and in demanding the immediate, complete and unconditional lifting of the unilateral and illegal coercive measures. He reaffirmex Syria’s support for the aspirations of the peoples of the countries of the South in achieving the goals of sustainable development, achieving security and peace, and ensuring that no country is left behind.
The minister pointed out that the countries of the South have always sought to reach a safer world, in which peace, justice, solidarity, cooperation and equality prevail, based on respect for the sovereignty of states and the integrity of their territories, non-interference in their internal affairs, and working together to achieve the goals of sustainable development, eliminate poverty, and build a sustainable future for the coming generations.
Al-Mikdad regreted that today the world has turned into a stage controlled by Western countries that assign the role of the victim to the criminal, and set laws for this criminal according to their own interests, in complete disregard for international conventions and norms and in continuation of their colonial approach based on humiliating peoples, stealing their resources and capabilities and depriving them of development and prosperity.
