The Governor of Al-Hasakah Louay Sayouh discussed with the First Secretary of the Swedish Embassy in Syria, Lina Fassali, and the Deputy Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund in Syria Mioh Nemoto the urgent needs of the citizens in Al-Hasakah, who are living in difficult circumstances, as a result of the presence of the American and Turkish occupations and their practices against the people in the governorate.
The governor pointed to the role that Sweden can play in communicating with all international parties, to neutralize and operate the Allouk Water Station and remove the Turkish occupier from it .
Sayouh presented the government’s efforts in cooperation with international organizations to secure about 3,000 cubic meters of water daily for citizens, reviewing the educational reality and the suffering of children and their families after more than 2,000 schools went out of service, depriving thousands of their right to education through the curricula approved by the Ministry of Education, which leads to great pressure on government schools.
The governor praised the work of the Children’s Fund “UNICEF” and its specific projects in the governorate, and its contribution to alleviating the suffering of the people, calling for an increase in the support that Sweden provides to UNICEF to implement projects that help people overcome these exceptional circumstances.
Fassali expressed her thanks for getting the opportunity to examine the suffering and needs of the people in Al-Hasakah, stressing that she would convey her observations to her country and work through all possible ways to alleviate the suffering of the Syrians in general, and the people in Al-Hasakah in particular, in addition to increasing the financial support provided to the projects of international organizations in the governorate, especially UNICEF.
In his turn, the Deputy Representative of UNICEF in Syria praised the governorate’s efforts to provide the necessary facilitation for the organization’s work, stressing the continuation of implementing projects that contribute to improving the conditions of the people in full coordination with government agencies.
