Al-Ghabbash discusses with Makhtumova and Hajjah Challenges facing the health sector

Damascus, (ST) –  The Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Muhammad Al-Ghabbash discussed with the Head of the mission, the representative of the World Health Organization in Syria, Dr. Akjamal Makhtumova, and the Director of Programs in the Organization’s Regional Office, and the Deputy Regional Director, Dr. Rana Al-Hajjah, the challenges facing the health sector, especially the COVID-19 pandemic in light of the siege imposed on the Syrian people.

The meeting dealt with the efforts made in the vaccination campaign against the Corona virus and the latest developments in the global pandemic, in addition to the importance of enhancing cooperation to secure medical equipment that provides medical services to citizens.

Dr. Al-Ghabbash expressed his thanks for the efforts made by the organization’s mission in Syria.

In turn, Dr. Al-Hajjah referred to the efforts made by the Syrian Ministry of Health. She expressed concern about the health situation in some parts of the world and the return of the high number of Corona virus infections in a number of countries.

For her part, Dr. Makhtumova indicated that there is high-level coordination with the Syrian Ministry of Health. She Confirmed the continuation of work to expand meeting the health needs of citizens.
