After a six-year hiatus due to terrorism, the Sheikh Miskeen-Al-Koum electricity transmission line has been restored to service
On June 20th, the workers of the Daraa Electricity Operation Department of the General Organization for Electricity Transmission and Distribution restored the 230-kilovolt electric power transmission cable connecting the Sheikh Miskin stations in Daraa and Al-Koum in As-Suwayda to service.
The workers rebuilt the cable from the damage caused by terrorism.
The Director of the Daraa Electricity Operation Department, Engineer Muhammad Asaad, stated that the department’s workers ,under the supervision of the General Organization for Electricity Transmission and Distribution, prepared the Sheikh Miskin Al-Koum cell, and it was returned to service after it was attacked by terrorism about six years ago.
He indicated that the cell links the main Sheikh Miskin transfer station with Al-Koumsubstation in As-Suwayda Governorate.
He added that this connection would increase the supplies of electrical power in the southern region in general,.
Engineer Labib Maarouf, Head of the Stations Department in the Implementation Directorate of the General Corporation for the Transmission and Distribution of Electricity, explained that this cable connects the stations of Sheikh Miskin and Al-Koum, and it was started more than a month ago with limited capabilities as a result of the economic siege imposed on Syria.
Engineer Walid Al-Mustafa, Head of the Lines Division in the Daraa Operations Department, indicated that the department’s workshops have prepared all the work inside the stations, including protections, circuit breakers, and all cell requirements.
The Director General of the Electricity Company, Eng. Hani Masalmeh, stressed the importance of the cable in increasing the supplies of electricity in the governorates of Daraa and As-Suwayda, in addition to four other cables feeding Daraa governorate.
Yaqoub Omran, head of the Sheikh Miskinstation, stated that the Sheikh Miskin station is a major station for the southern region.
