The service works included the Aisha River highway and the Fifth Node under the southern corridor to the March 8 complex in Zabaltani, the Umayyad and Muhafaza squares, and the cleaning the course of the Barada River branches in the Rukn al-Din and al-Maliki areas.

A number of participating workers emphasized the importance of volunteering in various fields, as Abdel Nasser Marei and Mohammad Khalidi from the Directorate of Gardens indicated that they participated in this day by planting ornamental plants in the Umayyad Square to improve the aesthetic appearance, which reflects solidarity and the ability to give, while Amjad Faris from the asphalting workshop at the Maintenance Directorate indicated that the workshops are participating in improving the roads and the status of their services, stressing the need to continue with the voluntary days because of their great benefit to everyone.

The Governor of Damascus, Eng. Adel Al-Olabi, explained in a press statement that today’s initiative comes to emphasize the importance of voluntary work and that any effort presented, no matter how small, will  positively reflect in building the country, pointing out that there are plans for the governorate to cooperate with the local community and associations concerned with the environment and hygiene to carry out voluntary days.
