A Russian politician lectures on “Trends in Global Developments”, at the Diplomatic Institute of the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Damascus (ST): The Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Tuesday organized a lecture entitled “Trends in Global Developments” by Dean of the Diplomatic Academy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Yakovenko.
A number of ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions in Damascus attended the lecture.
Director of the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Imad Mustafa, pointed out that the aim of the lecture is to exchange ideas and opinions, deepen common understanding, strengthen strategic political relations and friendships and provide opportunities for Syrian diplomats in the ministry to learn about modern diplomatic concepts and systems from different countries.
For his part, Yakovenko referred to the major role played by Russia today in global developments, especially following the profound changes in politics caused by the war in Ukraine.
Yakovenko stressed that Russia adopts a policy of self-reliance and self-sufficiency in all fields, as more than a hundred countries in the world support Russian policies today, and they are countries that want to see a more equitable world tfat is free of the dictates of the West, which led to important changes on the scene as a result of these new developments.
Yakovenko stressed Russia’s permanent support and standing by international law, but the economic and political sanctions imposed by Western countries on Russia made the world realize the depth of problems in the West, indicating that relations between Russia and the West have now been separated because of those Western policies.
In his lecture, Yakovenko explained that the United States is the beneficiary of the Ukrainian crisis mainly by earning money from the arms trade in it, as Russia was provoked to engage in this crisis because of the threat posed to its national security. He stated that the reason behind this is the American and European policy, indicating that everything that happens in Europe is under the control of Washington.
