A plane carrying a new batch of Pakistani humanitarian aid arrives at Damascus International Airport

A plane carrying a new batch of Pakistani humanitarian aid has arrived today at Damascus International Airport loaded with 17 tons of relief, medical and food supplies to support Syrian efforts in responding to the needs of those arriving from Lebanon.

In a statement to reporters, Pakistani Ambassador to Damascus Shahid Akhtar expressed his country’s appreciation for the Syrian efforts and the aid and hospitality Syria provides to those arriving from Lebanon as a result of the Israeli aggression, stressing the Pakistani government and people’s support for Syria to provide assistance in these difficult circumstances.

Ambassador Akhtar explained that this is the third plane to arrive in Syria, carrying 17 tons of relief supplies, clothing, blankets, food and baby milk, in addition to a quantity of medicines in cooperation and coordination with the Syrian Ministry of Health, indicating that more shipments will arrive successively depending on the list provided by the Higher Relief Committee regarding the needs of those arriving from Lebanon.

In a similar statement, Deputy Minister of Local Administration and Environment Moataz Douaji thanked the people and government of Pakistan for the support they provided, noting that the aid will be distributed to those entitled to it through the Supreme Relief Committee and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent.

Last Monday, the Higher Relief Committee received a shipment of humanitarian aid provided by the Republic of Pakistan, and that included 60 tons of blankets. In addition, two aid planes arrived on the 17th and 19th of this month, each carrying 16 tons of relief, medical and food supplies allocated for those arriving from Lebanon to Syria as a result of the Israeli aggression.
