Wathiqat Wattan Organization in cooperation with “Dar New Dalmoun” for publication and distribution recently issued a new book under the title “The Centenary of Maysaloon battle in commemoration of the Hero Martyr Yusef al-Azma” marking the battle’s centenary .
The 258-page book, whose introduction was written by Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban, Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of Wathiqat Wattan Organization , includes information and documents before Maysaloon battle and during it.
The book also includes testimonies and excerpts taken from memories written in rare and valuable books by prominent officers , ministers and historians , who accompanied the hero al-Azma.
The last part of the book contains several documents about Maysaloun battle from the French National Archives describing it as a historical battle with a collection of correspondence during that period.
Wathiqet Wattan Organization said in a speech that it prepared this book to put it in the hands of the young generation who have experienced this brutal war against Syria in recent years and were a strong fortress in the face of the new colonizer as the martyr al-Azma .
On her part, Head of “Dar New Dalmoun” Afra Hadba said in a statement to SANA, “A hundred years have passed since the battle of pride and dignity at the site of Maysaloun, which has been immortalized by history and recorded for its honorable facts”.
She stressed Maysaloun battle paved the way for struggle against the French colonizer to achieve glorious evacuation and inspired many Syrian leaders and thinkers to document its details and its militant connotations.
The Battle of Maysaloun, according to Hadba, is still the subject of study and research, which produced a rich collection of literature, including this book, which comes as part of a series of documents for the publications of Wathiqet Wattan Organization in cooperation with “Dar New Dalmoun” .
Hadba underscored that the new book will add remarkable value for the Arab library and will be a rich reference for researchers and those who are interested in the contemporary history of Syria and for all believers in the culture of resistance..
