In commemoration of the battle of Al-Thala Military Airport, which was waged by the Syrian Arab Army and the people of the Al-Suwayda province in the face of terrorist organizations in June 2015, the people of Al-Thala district commemorated its eighth anniversary with the participation of official, partisan and civil personalities.
The event began with laying wreaths of flowers on the memorial of the town’s martyrs, reciting Al-Fatiha for their pure souls, performing musical and lyrical pieces and patriotic poems, in addition to honoring a number of families of the martyrs and wounded of the airport battle.
In their speeches, the participants emphasized that the airport battle was an example to be followed on the cohesion of the army and the people in deterring and defeating the aggressors and inflicting the greatest losses on them and achieving victory, which was repeated more than once on the outskirts of the province.
The participants commended the heroism of the Syrian Arab Army and the supporting forces and the sacrifices of the wounded and martyrs of the nation, both civilians and military personnel, who shed blood during this battle and all battles waged for the sake of their homeland. They renewed their pledge to support the Syrian Arab Army to complete the purification and liberation of every part of the homeland, to preserve its unity and dignity, and to restore security and stability to all parts of it.
The event was attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Eng. Muhammad Hassan Qatana, the Governor of Al-Suwayda, Eng. Bassam Parsec, a number of members of the leadership of the Baath Arab Socialist Party branch and the People’s Assembly, officers of the Syrian Arab Army, and a crowd of popular, religious, partisan and trade union personalities in the governorate.
