Al-Burhan: Formation of a military council in Sudan representing state sovereignty
Khartoum –The Interim Military Council (IMC) in Sudan has affirmed the formation of a military council to represent the sovereignty of the state and form a civilian government accepted, by all.
The head of the council, Lt. General, Abdul Fatah al-Burhan Abdul Rahman, said in a statement he delivered Saturday in the Defense Ministry that the military council is committed to establishing a civil government in accordance with a transitional period of maximum two years during which the state will be handed over to a civilian government formed by the people.
The statement stressed the full commitment to fight corruption and hold accountable those who corrupt or helped to damage the economy or social life.
Al-Burhan said that the Council’s task is to maintain the rule of law, the independence of the judiciary, the prosecution and the constitutional court, the security of the homeland and the citizen.
In a statement issued Saturday at the Ministry of Defense, the council chairman said that the council is working to remove all restrictions and barriers that impede free enterprise.
The statement has also, called for the promotion of the spirit of equality and tolerance among the components of Sudanese society, as well as providing services that help citizens to live honorable life.
He lauded the honorable people of Sudan, the youth and young men and women who worked for the interest of the Sudan and sacrificed for the purpose.
