Prospects of Developing Small, Medium Enterprises

DAMASCUS, (ST) – A workshop recently held by the Syrian Investment Commission under the title “The fact of small and medium enterprises and the prospects of development” focused on the role of these projects in support of the national economy, achieve sustainable development and ways to develop them.

Director General of the Syrian Investment Commission eng. Hala Ghazal clarified that the workshop focused on the difficulties and constraints facing the small and medium enterprises, the regulatory environment governing the work and the mechanisms and methods of funding as well as the effects of the current crisis and how to deal with it in the light of these circumstances.

Eng. Ghazal pointed out the role of non-governmental organizations in support of the work and some of the Syrian experiences in this area and to identify the experiences of some countries in the field of development of small and medium enterprises in order to develop a specific mechanism contributing to the support of small investors through cooperation with government institutions in support of these projects.
