Damascus (ST): Hussein Makhlouf, Minister of Local Administration and Environment, discussed with Chargé d’Affaires of the UAE Embassy, Abdul Hakim Ibrahim Al-Nuaimi, the fraternal relations that unite the two brotherly countries, and the need to seek to strengthen and develop them.
Makhlouf underlined the importance of the role played by the UAE in relief operations for those affected by the earthquake that struck Syria on the sixth of last February, through the teams it sent, which were helpful and supportive of the efforts of the Syrian teams in the speedy completion of rescue operations in the affected areas, in addition to the air bridge that was established.
In turn, Al-Nuaimi affirmed the depth and strength of the fraternal relations that connect between Syria and the UAE and their peoples, expressing his hope that these relations will witness further development and prosperity.
During the meeting, the importance of opening the UAE Aid Coordination Office in Syria was discussed, with the aim of mobilizing and coordinating the efforts of charitable organizations and institutions under one umbrella, with a focus on priorities and basic needs.
Al-Nuaimi also touched on the importance of Syria’s participation in the Climate Summit “COP-28”, which will be hosted by the UAE at the end of this year, and the preparations that are being taken between the various official and private research and educational bodies to enrich the Syrian participation in the conference, especially since the whole world is looking forward to this summit due to the acceleration of climate changes in the world.
