Day of rage in the occupied Syrian Golan in rejection of the occupation’s criminal measures against the people there
Occupied Syrian Golan, (ST) – Dozens of people in the occupied Syrian Golan were injured today when the Israeli occupation forces attacked them in the village of Mas’ada and Al-Hafayer area east of the village, where the Israeli occupation plans to build wind turbines.
SANA reporter in the occupied Golan stated that since the morning, the people started a day of strike and anger, rejecting the occupation’s arbitrary and criminal measures and practices against them and their land. Hundreds of them gathered in the Abu Dhar Al-Ghafari shrine in Al-Marj area in preparation for heading to Al-Hafayer area which the occupation authorities has been closing the roads leading to it since yesterday. The occupation started bulldozing areas of the village’s agricultural lands to implement their settlement expansion plan by building wind turbines on them.
SANA reporter added that the people went to the area driven by their love for their land and their belonging to it. They were forced to use rugged roads to reach the lands in order to prevent the occupation’s vehicles from continuing to bulldoze it, but the occupation forces brought in large reinforcements to the area amidst flight of drones. They surrounded the people, and fired bullets and poison gas bombs at them.
The Golan people renewed their adherence to their land and their refusal to build turbines on it, under the pretext of generating electricity from wind energy. They stressed that they will not allow the occupation to seize their land and displace them from it.
The occupation forces also brought in large reinforcements to the village of Mas’ada, and assaulted the people who gathered there to denounce the occupation’s violations in the Al-Hafayer area. They demanded the release of the young men they arrested during their response to its storming of the area, which resulted in the injury of more than 50 of them.
The Dean of liberated Syrian prisoners, Sidqi Al-Maqt, said: The people of the occupied Syrian Golan are writing today a new heroic epic that they drew with the brightest and most beautiful forms of struggle, as they confronted armless the occupation forces and its military vehicles despite its brutal attacks on them.
In solidarity with the people of the Golan Heights, the Palestinians in the Galile region of the occupied territories in 1948 staged a mass demonstration, blocking a number of roads, demanding an end to the occupation’s attacks on the people of the occupied Golan.
Archbishop Atallah Hanna, Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Sebastia also condemned the attack by the occupation forces. He stressed that no matter how severe the Israeli aggression and its practices of killing, oppression, land theft and violation of sanctities, it will not undermine the determination of the people of the Golan and Palestine, as they are the owners of the land, and they defend their legitimate rights.
Archbishop Hanna said: Our people in the occupied Syrian Golan are a school of steadfastness, patriotism, and patriotism, and they share the suffering with the Palestinian people. The enemy is one and the goal is one, which is to liberate the land and expel the occupation.
In turn, Hamas Movement condemned the vicious attack of the occupation forces on the people of the occupied Golan. It affirmed its support and solidarity with them in confronting the occupation and its arbitrary practices.
Since 2019 the people of the occupied Syrian Golan have been carrying out comprehensive strikes, sit-ins, demonstrations, and stands, to confront the turbine scheme, which is one of the most dangerous Judaization colonial schemes targeting the Golan.
The occupation works to pass these colonial schemes under the pretext of generating electricity from wind energy, while its real goal is to seize more than six thousand dunums of their lands in violation of international conventions for the protection of peoples under occupation and United Nations resolutions, foremost of which is Security Council Resolution No. 497 of 1981, which affirms that all occupation measures in the occupied Syrian Golan are illegal and void.
