On September 8th, the Egyptian Ministry of Health announced the registration of the first case of monkeypox in the country.
“The first infection was detected on a 42-year-old Egyptian citizen who has obtained residency in one of the European countries and frequented it,” theSeventh Day website quoted the Egyptian Ministry of Health as saying.
The Ministry added that the patient is in a stable general condition, and all health and preventive measures were taken with his contacts in accordance with the treatment protocol by the World Health Organization.
The Ministry said that the patient has been isolated in a hospital designated for isolation.
According to the World Health Organization, as of August 16, 36,412 laboratory-confirmed cases of monkeypox were recorded in the world, and 179 probable cases, including 12 deaths, worldwide.
