Uruguay renews its rejection of sanctions against Russia

Moscow (ST): Uruguay’s ambassador to Moscow, Daniel Castillos, announced that his country strongly rejects the economic sanctions imposed by Western countries on Russia, stressing that it is working to strengthen its trade relations with Moscow. Russia Today website quoted Castillos as saying, “Despite the current situation and some criticism, Uruguay has not imposed and does not support any kind of economic sanctions against Russia,” noting that these sanctions affect exports from his country.

Castillos explained that in the long term our goal will be to restore trade that may be declining this year and to promote new trade exchanges with Russia.
