Borrell: There is no European consensus on banning the import of Russian oil and gas

Brussels (ST): European Commissioner for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell announced that the EU countries have not yet reached a consensus on banning the import of oil and gas from Russia.

Borrell told German newspaper Die Welt : “At the moment we do not have a unified position in the European Union on this issue and this also applies to the so-called alternative sanctions, including disciplinary duties on oil and gas imports from Russia”.
“Some EU countries have stated very clearly that they will not support an embargo on the import of Russian oil and gas,” he added.
